Venom Program
The Australian Reptile Park is world renown for its snake and spider venom milking program, which contributes to the production of lifesaving anti-venom.
Saving Lives Everyday
The Australian Reptile Park is the sole provider of raw venom to produce anti-venom for Australian terrestrial venomous snakes.
Acting as pioneers, the Australian Reptile Park played a vital role the development of life-saving snake and spider anti-venom.
Since then, over 25,000 lives have been saved thanks to the venom program.
Founder of the park, Eric Worrell, first started supplying tiger snake venom and coastal taipan venom to the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories in the early 1950's.
After he passed away, his friends John and Robyn Weigel expanded the program to include more terrestrial snake species and the infamous Sydney funnel-web spider.
