Heads up: You may see fewer kangaroos in the main park area over the next two weeks as we manage their welfare. Thanks for your understanding.

What's in the bag? 🤷‍♀️

That deep, dragon-like growl you’re hearing is coming from... a rhinoceros viper! 🐍
When defensive, they force large amounts of air through their throats. Instead of a typical hiss, the airflow creates a loud, raspy growl designed to sound as intimidating as possible. It’s a warning meant to stop predators before things escalate.

Me and you 💕

This is called an 'echidna train'!
During breeding season, female echidnas lead the way while several males follow closely behind her, sometimes for days or even weeks 🦔🦔🦔
The males are competing for the chance to mate, matching her pace and waiting until she’s ready. When that happens the female chooses 1 male and the rest of the train will split up.

Happy National Poop Day! 💩

Koala poop might not sound glamorous, but it’s actually pretty amazing. Our iconic Aussie marsupials produce small, dry, pellet-shaped poo, that smells like eucalyptus! 🌿
Koala poop is so dry because koalas get most of their water from leaves, making them one of the most water-efficient animals on the planet! 🐨

These are the first King Cobras born in Australia in 16 years!! 🔥

They’re tiny (under 30cm!), already hooding up, and very much acting like king cobras from day one. King cobras grow into the world’s longest venomous snake, reaching up to 5 metres as adults 😳

The babies are being raised behind the scenes with our reptile team, while proud dad Rajar is out on display in our Lost World of Reptiles exhibit.

One of the rarest reptile hatches in Australian history... we’re pretty proud of this one 👑
