As Santa makes his way down under this Christmas Eve, baby animals at the Australian Reptile Park are incredibly excited! In an adorable video released by the wildlife park, this years’ adorable newcomers were captured revelling in the Christmas spirit, marking their FIRST EVER Christmas!
Among the stars of the celebration is Bucky, the 10 month old wombat joey who received a special bottle just for the occasion from his surrogate mother Keeper Ellesha. Not to be outdone, orphaned koala joeys Edgar and Honey were thrilled to receive a cuddly koala stuffed animal.
The dingo puppies—Chilli, Bluey & Bandit—were in for a real treat this Christmas! Each received gift bags filled with their favourite kibble, along with a Christmas bon bon packed with raw kangaroo meat. Meanwhile, the Tasmanian devil joeys—Scooby, Shaggy, and Daphne—brought a whirlwind of energy to the celebration. These mischievous little ones made havoc as they played with the Christmas tree and festive decorations, embodying the spirit of the season with their antics.
Operations Manager at the Australian Reptile Park Billy Collett said, “We love getting into the Christmas spirit here and so do our animals! We needed to make sure these little guys had the perfect first Christmas and I think we pulled it off!”
Mr Collett continues, “Although the park itself closes on Christmas Day, a few keepers still come to work to ensure the animals are fed and enjoying Christmas just like everyone else. It’s just as important to us that we spend our Christmas with these guys as well as our human families, as they are a part of family too!”
