At the Australian Reptile Park, we're all about safety. In a hilarious video currently going viral online, Park staff are seen going through the paces of a safety drill involving some of the prehistoric predators that call the Central Coast wildlife park home. This might not be your standard safety drill, but with dinosaurs roaming the Australian Reptile Park as a part of their Jurassic June promotion, it's better to be safe than sorry.
The Australian Reptile Park regularly facilitates drills to ensure safety for the animals, staff and visitors. This drill saw the Park’s residentTyrannosaurus rex, affectionately known as “Rexy” putting keepers through their paces by testing their skills with nets and testing their ability to work as a team.
Education Officer at the Australian Reptile Park, Michael Tate (known as Ranger Mick to visitors) commented on the drill, stating “It is very important for our team to run drills due to the high level of danger many of our animals present. However, with our current Jurassic June promotion, we couldn’t help having a bit of fun and mimic one of these drills with a massive dinosaur suit!”
“With the June long weekend coming up, visitors will be able to walk alongside our massive dinosaurs – which are always a hit with kids and adults alike. There’s also face painting and our shows that we’ve become famous for, including the daily feeding of our cranky, 4.5m long crocodile Elvis”, Ranger Mick concluded.
The dinosaur escape drill coincides with the Australian Reptile Park’sJURASSIC JUNEevent series, which will see 8-foot-high animatronic dinosaurs roaming the Park every weekend in June. The special event series comes just in time for NSW residents to use their remaining Discover NSW vouchers, which are due to expire on 30 June 2022. Visitors to the Central Coast wildlife park can use the Discover NSW and Parents NSW vouchers to get the best deal for weekend family fun this June.
